These seams are not directly load-bearing, so their main purpose is to give your hammock chair a polished, professional, and finished look, as well as to prevent the raw fabric edges from fraying over time.

Unfold your fabric entirely and lay it flat on your ironing board.
Heat up your iron to the appropriate setting for canvas. Along both the top and bottom raw edges of your fabric, carefully fold the edge over by about 0.5 inches and press firmly with the iron. This creates a crisp initial fold, setting the stage for a clean hem.
Fold over the edge again by another 0.5 inches and press once more. This double-fold effectively encloses the raw edge completely within the fabric, creating a very tidy finish.
